STEAM Technician and Lab Assistant - Singapore American School

Description : STEAM Technician and Lab Assistant. Company : Singapore American School. Location : Woodlands

  • ?Supervising and helping elementary school students in our STEAM studios with Maker, Design and Engineering projects.
  • Monitoring elementary school student behavior in STEAM labs and makerspaces and effectively communicating behavioral expectations to students.
  • Overseeing, maintaining, organising, tidying and restocking equipment inventories and studio resources.
  • Setting up learning activities as directed and ensuring the setup is safe and child friendly.
  • Communicating STEAM studio material requirements and other suggestions with PLC leads

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Daily opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
  • Facilitating and setting up spaces to be used for guest speakers, presentations and other events; including technical equipment

Skills/Requirements Qualifications Required:
  • Diploma or certificate from an accredited educational institution in courses such as Media Production Design, Product Design & Innovation, Film, Sound and Video or areas related to new emerging technologies.
  • Relevant specialized work experience in elementary education or commercial settings.
  • Combination of successfully completed post high school education and specialized work experience.

Desired Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess several of these skill sets or have a high interest and ability to learn in these areas:

  • Excellent English communication skills. Be highly service-oriented and enjoy interacting with students, faculty, staff and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide assistance as necessary to other team members.
  • Familiarity with productivity applications such as google apps or similar
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills necessary to learn new procedures for new devices e.g. iPads and 3D printers.
  • Experience with Apple products including iPads, OSX, iOS Android and Google apps.
  • Organization skills necessary for managing collaborative learning spaces.
